Electric Callboy charge up “You Say Run” for My Hero Academia’s 10th anniversary

Electric Callboy have joined Japanese composer Yuki Hayashi for a new 10th-anniversary version of “You Say Run,” one of the defining musical themes from My Hero Academia.

The collaboration places the German band’s vocals and electronic-metal energy inside Hayashi’s orchestral framework. Rather than treating the original as a conventional cover, the new version keeps its heroic melodic arc while adding the sharp rhythmic shifts, synth impact and crowd-facing momentum associated with Electric Callboy.

A live meeting before the global release

The artists first brought the collaboration to the stage in London on September 20, 2026. The worldwide digital release followed on September 22, making the anniversary version available beyond the concert.

“You Say Run” has long been tied to moments of resolve and forward motion in the anime. That makes it a natural point of contact for a band whose music often balances heavy breakdowns with bright, immediate hooks. The new recording does not erase the cinematic character of Hayashi’s composition; it increases the contrast around it.

Orchestra, electronics and metalcore

The arrangement works because each side brings a recognisable language. Hayashi’s writing supplies the scale and emotional lift. Electric Callboy add vocal force, electronic detail and the physical pulse of modern metalcore. The result moves between soundtrack drama and live-show release without forcing either element into the background.

Crossovers between heavy music and anime soundtracks can easily become novelty projects. This one is more structurally convincing. The original theme already depends on escalation, repetition and a decisive final surge—qualities that translate naturally into a heavier band arrangement.

A milestone for a global audience

The anniversary edition also reflects how international the audience around My Hero Academia has become. A Japanese orchestral theme and a German electronic-metal band can now meet in a release aimed at listeners who move comfortably between anime, game music and contemporary heavy genres.

For Electric Callboy, the track is a high-profile collaboration outside the band’s standard album cycle. For Hayashi, it offers a new performance context for a composition that has remained central to the series’ identity for a decade.
