Watchmen: Album Art for First Volume of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross Score Revealed

HBO’s Damon Lindelof’s Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ Watchmen is now one-third over, and so far, so great. This is due, at least in part, to the consistently excellent score by Nine Inch Nails masterminds Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross (check of it out here). As we previously reported, that score will be released gradually over three vinyl volumes, the first of which came out today.

Reznor and Ross have gotten into the habit of keeping their album packaging under wraps, only to reveal something ridiculously cool upon release, and Birth.Movies.Death. reports that the premiere volume of Watchmen is no different: “[I]n a nod to the show’s burgeoning mythology, the album’s been designed to look like a release from Sons of Pale Horse, the in-universe band that took inspiration from Rorschach’s journal.” This includes a complete set of liner notes detailing the history of that fictional group.

Naturally, that’s just the tip of the iceberg. You can get a more complete look at the packaging here. But the short version is, you wanna own this, and you wanna pre-order the next two volumes, which comes out November 25 and December 16. Get ’em here.
