SAOR, the Scottish atmospheric black metal project of composer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Andy Marshall, will release “Caledonia” through Season of Mist on Friday, November 6th, 2026. The album gathers five songs from the first three SAOR records, Roots, Aura and Guardians, re-recorded in full across 51 minutes of music, and will be available to stream in its entirety on YouTube today.
Marshall approaches “Caledonia” as completion rather than nostalgia. Many of these compositions have been reshaped over years of rehearsals, concerts and tours, and the new recordings carry that evolution in their arrangements, dynamics and performances while keeping the identity of the originals intact. Tremolo-driven black metal still sits alongside tin whistle, uilleann pipes and violin, now with the scale and atmospheric depth Marshall heard from the start but could not fully realise on the early albums.

Marshall handles composition, vocals, electric and acoustic guitars, bass and pads, with guest contributions from drummer Carlos Vivas, Ella Zlotos on female vocals, tin whistle, low whistle and uilleann pipes, and violinist Àngela Moya Serrat.
The album is available on CD digipak and as a 2×12” gatefold vinyl in black, black and white marbled, and opaque orange and black marbled editions.

Andy states:
“Having previously revisited older material through remasters and remixes, this was the first time I could fully reimagine these songs with the benefit of years of experience, stronger performances, and a clearer artistic vision. It felt less like looking backwards and more like completing a circle. The songs carry the same emotions and inspiration, but they now reflect the SAOR that exists today.”
