Finnish dark rock act DreamSpy is about to release its first album. The album is titled “My halo of obsession” and will be out on June 26th 2020 through Inverse Records.
“The dance of the subconscious and the superego in the world of distortions.”
That phrase describes DreamSpy comprehensely – dark, atmospheric rock with introvert, escapist lyrics. DreamSpy is an experimental, audiovisual soloproject of vocalist-bassist Anssi Tamminen. The vocal point point of the sound is an electric upright bass coated with distortion, which is supported by drums – a mix of machine and the traditional-type of drum sounds. Sounds from piano and synthesizer take the spotlight every now and then. Guitar tracks? None. Vocal-interpretation of Tamminen goes sound-wise from a fragile whisper to a blustering of a baritone.
